 HOOQ and SPi Global’s AI dubbing solution named as a finalist in LocWorld Process Innovation Challenge
SmartDub, an artificial intelligence (AI) dubbing innovation by SPi Global – the world’s leading content technology and solutions provider – and premier streaming provider HOOQ, is one of the five finalists for the LocWorld Process Innovation Challenge at LocWorld Silicon Valley 2019 to be held in Silicon Valley, California, from November 6 to 8, 2019. SmartDub was chosen among dozens of entries in the Technology track for its industry-first features. Among them is its ability to generate synthetic voices by merging AI with Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology and voice morphology.

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) and The Scholarly Kitchen, in collaboration with Frankfurter Buchmesse, will once again deliver two insightful sessions exploring the latest industry developments as well as a look at the current state of OA monograph publishing.  The Society Publishers’ Coalition elects first Council
The Society Publishers’ Coalition has announced the results of its first Council election. Elections were held in September to create a representative council to lead the Coalition’s work. Each membership organisation was given six votes, and only one representative per organisation voted. The election criteria required that Council must include at least one Humanities and Social Science (HSS) and one Science Technology and Medicine (STM) publishing member as well as at least one commercially published and one self-published member.

 American Chemical Society names Dr. Jonathan W. Steed as new editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design
The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has named Dr. Jonathan W. Steed, professor of inorganic chemistry at Durham University, as the new editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design.
